How to Get Here

The nearest major airport is El Paso International Airport (ELP). It is 45 minutes from Las Cruces and so a car rental is suggested. Most things in the area require driving as there isn’t much in the way of public transportation. Alaska and Southwest are the two best bets for getting into ELP. United can also work but has fewer connections.

There is a daily flight direct from Seattle to El Paso that is best for folks traveling from there. Southwest works as well but has a stop.

Southwest is the best bet from the east coast with a direct flight from Orlando.

Where to Stay

AirBnB is your best bet. Take a look and you’ll likely find some beautiful places with four bedrooms, hot tubs and pools for under $200/night. One and two bedroom can be under $100. Great option if you’ve got a group that is sticking together.

Alternatively the Marriott is close to the town of Mesilla where the wedding venue is, just a six minute drive.

Desert Survival Tips

  • Drink LOTS of water and take it easy!! Las Cruses is 4,000 ft in elevation and the average temperature in April is around 80 degrees. Stay hydrated and acclimate to the elevation change before any serious physical activities.
  • Wear sunscreen!!!
  • Bring your swimsuit! Alessandra’s parents have a pool and most hotels and Airbnbs will have pools and/or hot tubs. It may sound cliche, but the heat in the desert is different than what we’re used to. You’ll likely want to cool off at some point.
  • Bring a light jacket. Evenings can get chilly quickly.
  • Bring saline spray. The dryness in the southwest can dry out your sinuses quickly and be uncomfortable.
  • Have fun and go explore!
